Can you please help me?

I have very sensitive skin. I am 41 but I am experiencing some oily skin at times. If I use a moisturizer, I can tend to break out. I have used avon anew eye cream, and it has really helped me to reduce the darkness under my eyes, but I have started to get broken blood vessels under one (my husband calls it an alcoholic nose –but I do not drink!).

I really want to reduce the fine lines that I am getting around my lips but I am not a smoker either!…but I am so wanting to reduce the skin dryness, reduce acne, and FIX MY FACE!!!! I rarely wear makeup …only once or twice a year… because it causes my skin to break out. I am religious about washing my face twice a day, and I always use  a very mild (cetipil) skin care product. I am so sorry to carry on so much, but I can not begin to afford a dermatologist’s office price right now and I am getting sick of spending a lot of money on products that have made my skin problems worse…

Thank you for any help and I look forward to any product suggestion(s) that you might be able to make. Jenny

Hi Jenny,

Here are my suggestion(s) for you. I hope they will help. :)

Dry skin will and can defiantly irritate the skin. I think my best suggestion for you is using a Hyaluronic Acid Serum which would be a really great product for your skin ration, I would  to use it at night. It will/could defiantly end your dry skin problems, and that could be your first step to having a very healthy skin complexion.

Then, also considering your eyes and lip problems. I would suggest that you start using a good Matrixyl serum and a Collagen Serum that contains peptides will  help you to build up your own skin collagen that will thicken the skin, thus these 2 items will/can help your to smooth out your wrinkles and also make your eyes to look younger. If you have dark circles, using products with peptides (like a good Matrixyl product plus a Collagen Serum) is one of the best ways to build your skin’s good properties and will help hide any dark eye circles.

Cleansing your facial skin

Good Facial Cleansing habits can prevent wrinkles, YES it’s true! Cleansing your skin can prevent wrinkles! It’s your cheapest most effective way to fight wrinkles besides avoiding the sun…. but that’s for my next post.

Let me start off with explaining a tiny bit about the cleanser that you should use.

When cleansing your face a mild cleanser should be sure used, one that it meets your skin type: oily, normal or for dry skin. This helps because not all skin is the same and since there are numerous brands you don’t have to go to extremes to find something that will meet your needs. Please note: that just because the brand is a famous one it does not always mean that it is better then an inexpensive one that has been around, tried and tested over the years and still having a good reputation. Often if you go to a good drugstore you can inquire about a “good” quality cleanser that is still reasonably priced because there are numerous ones out there if you just take the time to look. OK! now that we’ve got that out of the way I can get on to my thoughts on actually cleansing your skin.

Washing/Cleansing your face may seem to be a very simple task and most likely not talked about very often, but if it’s not done properly, you can damage your skin.

Therefore the face should be cleansed properly in the right way with the right facial cleanser for you (if your skin has special needs)

1)… Turn on the hot water and allow it to run until it is a nice warm temperature.

2)…. Splash the water on your face to dampen it thoroughly (with your hands)

3)…. Then apply a small amount of a mild facial cleanser.

Take the cleanser and pour only a very small dab into the palm of your hand. I suggest using about a dime to a nickel size amount of cleanser for your face. Over using any facial any cleanser can dry out your skin and it can totally be a waste of your cleanser.

I always recommend that you use only your hands (omitting using a washcloth) as you can end up applying to much pressure using a wash cloth and possibly damaging your skin, especially around the eye area, the pressure should be very gentile, (only using your fingertips) as you do not want to break down the delicate eye tissue. If you are using a washcloth this can happen easier then you think. Daily repeated washcloth pressure could do an extreme amount of damage over time with a user who is not paying attention to what they are doing. I’m not saying everyone who uses a washcloth is going to do damage to their skin but the likely hood can be very high so why not just get into the habit of using your hands and fingertips so you will be eliminating a big part of that idle temptation to “apply” to much pressure to your very delicate facial skin tissue.

Washing with warm water will help to open up the skin pores allowing you to cleanse your skin even deeper then just the top surface of your face thus helping you to remove the deep embed dirt and oils that can leave your skin with clogged pores. After your have gently cleansed your face/skin start rinsing off the cleanser with fresh warm water. Do not hold back on the amount of fresh water that you use as MORE is “always” better when it comes to washing/rinsing off the cleanser. I like to splash my face with clean water 20 –30 times, just repeating one splash with another and counting up to 20 or 30 times. The reason I do this so many times is that water H20 will penetrate deeper into the skin layers then any moisturizer cream on the market bar none and thus it is the best facial hydrator know to science not to mention it will always be the cheapest most efficient beauty product that you have in your home.

Remember to continue using “only” your hands to splash and rinse. Also the fresh clean cool water quickly helps your skin to return to it’s own natural pH balance in about 1 minute’s time plus this technique is also is the best natural way to close your freshly cleansed facial pores.

Cleansing your face daily is not a luxury it is a necessity. The only question is how often you should cleanse your face every day? Twice daily (morning & night before going to bed) should be mandatory for maintaining a good complexion, but three times daily can sometimes be the helpful hint when you are trying to correct an acne pron complexion problem or turning a dull dry skin complexion into a good beautiful complexion. So good cleansing habits can be your greatest reward. I realize this can seem excessive but sometimes it can be necessary for persistant problem skin and if you will give my suggestions a try I am sure you will love the rewards it can bring. For really problem skin it can take up to a few weeks to see your rewards.

Please email me with any of your questions or comments as I will love to try to help.

About Me

Where do I start?

My interests have changed over the years on several different levels but I have always been interested in skin care because I realized very young that if you take good care of your skin it would defiantly pay you high dividends in the long run. Proving myself right has been a joy because by the time you see that those dividends have paid off you also realize that if you hadn’t focused on good skincare and health you would eventually be trying to undo unnecessary damage that really could have been easily avoided.

I enjoy all of the fascinating people that I have meet over the Internet and it is so wonderful to find those out there with same interests that I have in good skin care and living a healthy lifestyle. I have been searching out personalized skin care items that are top quality for over 30 years now and it has become my passion.

I feel that life can’t get any better if we live it at it’s fullest, enjoying our family and friends first then almost all other things will fall into place.

Fighting wrinkles

L-Ascorbic Acid is one of the most widely used ingredients in skin care products, but as most users know, unfortunately most of what is out on the market today is ineffective because the concentrations are too low, and then you have the risks of oxidation (which happens easily if not properly stabilized). These are NO LONGER a problem however, when the L-Ascorbic Acid is used in it’s purest and guaranteed fresh dry form.

Vitamin C benefits skin in two important ways. First, it’s essential for the synthesis of collagen, a key structural protein of the skin. Adding Vitamin C to skin cell cultures dramatically increases the synthesis of collagen. Second, Vitamin C is a super-powerful antioxidant and can help reduce skin damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals break down collagen, the “glue” that holds skin together, makes it firm, and preserves its wrinkle-free quality for as long as possible. Collagen also gives the skin resilience, lessening the likelihood of wrinkles. In the worst cases, free radicals can run amuck and permanently damage skin cells, causing blotches, or even skin cancer.
